A careful look, head to toe.
A full skin examination with dermoscopy, a record of anything worth watching, and a reminder when you are next due.
This may be appropriate if
- You have fair skin, many moles, or a history of sunburn or outdoor work
- You or a close relative have had a skin cancer
- You have noticed a spot that is new, changing, itchy or bleeding. Please don't wait for a reminder

Before you come
Skip make-up, nail polish and fake tan on the day so nothing is hidden.
With your GP
A head to toe examination using a dermatoscope. You undress to your underwear and a gown or sheet is provided.
If something needs attention
Many biopsies and excisions are performed here in our procedure room, usually at a separate appointment.
Afterwards
Results by SMS or phone, and a recall set for your next check, most often in 12 months.
Your questions answered
A few of the things people often wonder about before booking. If there's something else on your mind, just ask, we're always happy to talk it through.
How long does it take?
Allow 30 minutes for a full skin check.
Can I ask for a female doctor?
Yes. Let us know when you book.
Can you just look at one spot?
Yes. Book a standard appointment and tell us it is for a single spot.
What does it cost?
The fee and Medicare rebate for a full skin check are on the fees page. If a biopsy or surgery is recommended, you are told the cost before it goes ahead.
Will it hurt?
The examination is painless. If a biopsy is recommended, a local anaesthetic is used and your doctor will explain what to expect first.
