Make us your regular practice.
MyMedicare is a free, voluntary registration that links you to the practice and GP who know you. There is no rush. Register once you are comfortable with us.
What registering gives you.
Medicare ties some benefits to the practice you are registered with. Without a registration, they are not available to you.
- Longer telehealth
- Medicare rebates for longer phone and video consultations apply only with your registered practice.
- Chronic condition plans
- Once you are registered, your GP Chronic Condition Management Plan and its reviews are done here, so one team holds the plan. See who we bulk bill.
- Aged care homes
- More regular visits from your GP and better care planning if you live in a residential aged care home. Dr Masoud Moghaddam visits residents in aged care homes in our area.
- Families
- Parents and children can register at the same practice when one of them is eligible.
- Continuity
- Your care stays with the team who hold your history.
What it does not change.
- It is free. There is no cost to register, now or later.
- You can still see other doctors. Registration does not stop you using another practice or provider.
- You can change your mind. Switch your preferred GP, move to another practice or withdraw at any time.
- Our fees stay the same. Registering does not change what we charge. See our fees.
Online, step by step.
It takes a few minutes in your Medicare online account or the Express Plus Medicare app. You need your Medicare card, and your Medicare account linked to myGov.
Tell the front desk and we will start it for you, or complete the paper registration form with us. DVA Veteran Card holders register on paper.
Open MyMedicare
Sign in to myGov and select Medicare, or open the app. Choose View MyMedicare, then Register for MyMedicare.
Find us
Search by suburb and postcode, St Ives 2075, and select St Ives Doctors. If you see North St Ives Medical instead, that is us under our previous name.
Choose your preferred GP
Pick the doctor you see most. You can still book with any of our GPs, and change your preferred GP later.
Submit
Send the registration. We confirm it at our end and it then takes effect.
You need to have seen us in person at least twice in the past two years. Services Australia has illustrated guides for registering online, registering in the app and registering a child under 14.
Already registered somewhere else?
You can be registered with one practice at a time. Moving your registration to us is simple, and there is no need to cancel the old one first.
- Check where you are registered
- Sign in to myGov, select Medicare and choose View MyMedicare. It shows your current practice. You can also call Medicare on 132 011.
- See us twice first
- Medicare asks that you have visited your new practice in person twice in the past two years before you register. If your own GP has moved to us, that rule does not apply.
- Register with us
- Follow the steps above. Registering with St Ives Doctors withdraws your previous registration automatically, and Medicare lets that practice know.
- Children under 14
- A child's existing registration has to be withdrawn before a new one is started. A parent or guardian on the same Medicare card does both in View MyMedicare.
- If we send you a request
- When we start a registration for you, the request appears in myGov. You can accept or decline it.
Services Australia explains how to update your MyMedicare details and how to withdraw. Moving your records as well? See transferring your records.
Ready when you are.
Book online at any time, or call the front desk during opening hours.
