We move to St Ives Plaza on 19 October. Where to go until then
Our practice

Forty years in St Ives. Still independent.

First as North St Ives Medical Practice, now as St Ives Doctors.

The name and the address have changed. The ownership, the doctors and the way we practise have not.

Dr Peter Hopkins opened a surgery in St Ives in 1983. Some of the children he saw in those first years now bring their own children to us, and a few bring their grandchildren.

The practice has been locally owned and independent for every one of those years. It has never been sold to a corporate group. In 2026 we took a new name, St Ives Doctors, and moved a few minutes down Mona Vale Road to rooms designed around how care is delivered today: more consulting rooms, a procedure room, an infusion pod, natural light, and space for the services our patients most often need nearby.

We made the move for one reason. Good doctors stay where they can practise well, and patients do better when they can see the same doctor year after year.

How we care

We listen, and take the time to understand

You know yourself better than anyone. We start there, and we welcome the questions and ideas you bring.

We explain

Advice grounded in current medical evidence, given in a way that is warm, clear and respectful, so that decisions are yours to make.

We follow through

Referrals made, results reviewed, calls returned. If something needs action you will hear from us.

Clinically led

Decisions about care are made by doctors.

Dr Caroline Scarman is our Clinical Lead. She chairs the monthly doctors' meeting, where the team reviews how we are doing and what we can do better, and she is responsible for the standard of care across the practice.

Meet the doctors

Private billing, used carefully

We help to make Medicare work for you.

St Ives Doctors is a privately billing practice. That is what allows longer appointments and a team that stays. We also look for the Medicare and government-funded pathways you are entitled to, such as care plans, health assessments and medicines reviews, so that the overall cost of looking after your health is as low as it sensibly can be.

Children under 10 are bulk billed, as are health assessments and chronic condition management plans for eligible patients. There is no surcharge on any card.

Our fees

Part of the community

Local, in the ordinary sense of the word.

We support the Rotary Club of St Ives and take part in the St Ives Food and Wine Festival on the Village Green. Our patients come from St Ives, St Ives Chase, Pymble, Turramurra, Gordon, Terrey Hills, Belrose and well beyond, and all are welcome.

Ready when you are.
