When it's relevant

Low iron confirmed on a blood test, where tablets have not worked, cannot be tolerated, or iron is needed more quickly.

Why it's worth a visit

Low iron always has a cause, and finding it matters as much as replacing the iron.

How your GP can help

Your GP confirms the diagnosis and the cause, explains the benefits and risks, and arranges the infusion in our infusion pod with a nurse monitoring you throughout.

Who can help

All of our GPs can help with this.

Your questions answered

A few of the things people often wonder about before booking. If there's something else on your mind, just ask, we're always happy to talk it through.

How long does it take?

About 45 minutes, including monitoring afterwards.

Do I bring the iron with me?

Yes. Your GP gives you a script, you collect the iron from a pharmacy and bring it to the appointment.

Are there side effects?

Most people have none. Your GP will go through the possible reactions, including the small risk of skin staining at the site, before you decide.

How soon will I feel better?

Usually over several weeks, as your body uses the iron.
