When it's relevant

You are starting contraception, thinking about changing, having side effects, or planning to stop.

Why it's worth a visit

The options differ a great deal in how they work, how reliable they are and who they suit. Some are not safe with certain health conditions or medicines.

How your GP can help

Your GP goes through your health, your plans and what you have tried, explains each option plainly and helps you choose. Some methods can be started on the day.

Who can help

All of our GPs can help with this.

Book with your regular doctor, or with whoever is available. Meet our doctors.

Your questions answered

A few of the things people often wonder about before booking. If there's something else on your mind, just ask, we're always happy to talk it through.

Do I need a long appointment?

A standard appointment is fine for a discussion or a repeat. Procedures are booked separately and take longer.

Can a teenager come alone?

Yes. Young people can see a GP confidentially, within limits the doctor will explain at the start.

What about emergency contraception?

It works best when taken as soon as possible. Call us or see a pharmacist promptly.

Ready when you are.
