When it's relevant

You have a positive pregnancy test, or you are pregnant and would like your routine visits close to home.

Why it's worth a visit

Early pregnancy is when key tests and decisions come up. Regular checks through your pregnancy help keep you and your baby well.

How your GP can help

Your GP confirms the pregnancy, arranges early tests and referrals, and can share your routine antenatal visits with your hospital or obstetrician, with you seeing them at set points and for the birth.

Who can help

All of our GPs can help with this.

Your questions answered

A few of the things people often wonder about before booking. If there's something else on your mind, just ask, we're always happy to talk it through.

When should I come in after a positive test?

Within a week or two. Book a long appointment.

What is shared care?

Many routine pregnancy visits are with your GP, close to home, with the hospital or obstetrician seeing you at set points and for the birth.

Can I still choose my hospital or obstetrician?

Yes. Your GP will talk through your options, refer you and work alongside the team you choose.
