When it's relevant

Your baby or child is due for a check, or you have a question about feeding, sleep, growth, speech, movement or behaviour.

Why it's worth a visit

Children develop at different rates, and most worries turn out to be within the normal range. When something does need help, early support makes a difference.

How your GP can help

Your GP measures growth, checks development and gives you time to ask what is on your mind. Where needed they can refer to a paediatrician or allied health.

Who can help

All of our GPs can help with this.

Book with your regular doctor, or with whoever is available. Meet our doctors.

Your questions answered

A few of the things people often wonder about before booking. If there's something else on your mind, just ask, we're always happy to talk it through.

When are checks recommended?

At the ages set out in your child's personal health record book, starting in the first weeks of life.

Do I still see the child and family health nurse?

Yes, if you wish. The two work alongside each other.

What does it cost?

GP consultations for children under 10 are bulk billed with a current Medicare card.
