When it's relevant

Long-standing difficulty with attention, organisation, restlessness or impulsivity that affects school, work or home life, in a child or an adult.

Why it's worth a visit

These difficulties have several possible explanations, including sleep, anxiety and learning differences. A careful assessment is what makes treatment appropriate.

How your GP can help

Your GP takes a detailed history, gathers information from school, family or work, considers other causes, and explains what can be done here and where a specialist needs to be involved.

Who can help

All of our GPs can help with this.

Book with your regular doctor, or with whoever is available. Meet our doctors.

Your questions answered

A few of the things people often wonder about before booking. If there's something else on your mind, just ask, we're always happy to talk it through.

How many appointments will it take?

Usually more than one long appointment. A proper assessment should not be rushed.

What should I bring?

School reports, any previous assessments and, for adults, someone who knew you as a child if possible.

Will I be given medicine at the first visit?

No. Assessment comes first, and treatment is only one part of any plan.

Ready when you are.
